Brunello di Montalcino - Wine Tours

Leaving from your accomodation, we will pass through the ancient road Cassia(ss2), direction South. Once passed Buonconvento, turning right we will start to climb towards Montalcino (placed at more than 500 m above sea level). By then, we will be in the production area of one of the world's most famous wines: the Brunello of Montalcino. During this tour you will admire the incredible landscapes of the Val d’ Orcia, the olive groves and the vineyards standing on enchanted hills and you can visit the village of Montalcino: a jewel of history and medieval architecture. Going on with the tour, it will be a pleasure for us to take you to discover one of the most important wineries for the production of Brunello: I Barbi. This surname (that gives the name to the label) was so important in the past because
this family was the first to recognize the international potential of his sangiovese, later named Brunello. After the visit of their wine cellar you will finally taste the wines: the Brunello, the less aged Rosso and other productions of the winery. After a short visit of the S. Antimo abbey, one of the most important and powerful of the middleages, the tour will end with another wine tasting, not less valuable than the other one. In the direction of S.Angelo (a spectacular village at the top of a hill) we will stop in Poggio Antico. The Brunello of this winery is top quality, as you can read on the best national and international enological magazine…but your taste is more trustworthy! We can also organize on request a delicious typical lunch into a local "trattoria".
