San Gimignano is world famous for the high towers and it is said to be the “Manhattan” of the Middle-ages because of his wonderful skyline.Walking in the central streets and visiting local shops you will reach the central square of the town called Piazza della cisterna and Basilica della Collegiata(a ancient church in romanic style).Piazza del Comune(one of the most well preserved squares of the Middle Ages) will give you an authentic lesson of medieval architecture.Another good reason to visit the place is the famous white wine(produced here) called “Vernaccia”that easily could be tasted in town.At your own request is possible to arrange a Vernaccia wine tasting in a local winery.
In the second part of the tour we will take you to Siena considered one of the jewels of Tuscany.This amazing hill top town founded by the Romans(as Sena)and become one of the most important cities during the Middle Ages is preserved since centuries by his citizens.The tradition here is still alive and you can tell looking at the Palio race(a horse race going on since 500 years)in the magnificent main square Piazza del Campo(built in the XIV century).Walking through the central narrow streets towards the Duomo(built in white and black marble in the XIV century) you will be fascinated by the quiet atmosphere around and you could relax sitting outside one of the many coffee bar for a nice gelato.Siena is becoming every year a more popular touristy destination but you will spend here an unforgettable evening between art,culture,food and wines(Not everyone knows that around Siena are produced three of the best red wines of Italy like Chianti,Brunello di Montalcino and Nobile di Montepulciano).
